Grinding Gear Games is revealing Path of Exile 2’s 1.0 version live at ExileCon 2026. The stream starts Friday, November 6 at 12:30 PM PST, on the official Twitch and YouTube channels.
GGG’s announcement says it’ll show new content on the road to full release, and that’s it. No hints. So before Friday, here’s what’s already settled, what’s worth doing this week, and the questions that are still wide open.
What’s already settled
Most of the big picture came out at gamescom in August. 1.0 launches December 11 (PST), and from that day PoE2 is free to play for everyone. It’s coming to PC, Steam, PlayStation, Xbox and the Epic Games Store at the same time. The new class is the Duelist, PoE2’s first sword-wielding class, built around fast sword-and-shield melee.
The campaign finally gets its ending, too. The last two acts arrive with 1.0. When Early Access opened in December 2024 it had three of the six planned acts, so this is the first time the whole story will be playable start to finish.
There’s no launch time yet.
The sign-up deadline depends on which post you read
Registering at pathofexile2.com/register gets you launch rewards. According to GGG’s October 20 post, the community already cleared two milestones, so everyone who signs up gets two cosmetic effects. More sign-ups unlock more effects and eventually a pet.
The catch is the deadline. The August press release says sign-ups run until December 10 (PST). The October 20 post says you have until December 11. GGG hasn’t clarified which is right, so just get it done before the 10th.
Also easy to miss: owning Early Access doesn’t count. You still have to register, then click the confirmation link in the email before it goes through.
The supporter pack math has changed
GGG’s October 22 post says the current Early Access supporter packs will leave the store for good “in a few weeks,” replaced by five new packs. There’s no exact date.
The current packs bundle cosmetics that work in both PoE1 and PoE2, an Early Access key, store points and pack-exclusive items. Once the game goes free on December 11, that Early Access key stops being worth much. So the only real reason left to buy one of these packs is the exclusive cosmetics. If you love them, decide before they’re pulled. If you don’t, there’s no harm in waiting to see what the five new packs look like. GGG also says you can contact support ahead of time to reserve a pack on a payment plan of up to three months.
What nobody knows yet
The question that matters most to current players doesn’t have an answer. The FAQ says both the current league, Forbidden Rites, and the previous one, Runes of Aldur, end when 1.0 launches. What it doesn’t say is what happens to the characters in them. Move to Standard? Fresh start? Nothing official either way.
We also don’t know if a new league opens alongside 1.0, or whether the Duelist is the only new class. In the comments under the reveal announcement, a few people think the teaser image shows a dagger and are hoping for a Shadow. That’s speculation, and it’s a dozen or so forum comments, not a read on the whole player base.
Friday’s stream will most likely answer some of this. I’ll follow up afterward with a focus on character migration and the launch league.
